AIE Workshop List Now Online
A list of the workshops that will be offered at the October 30-November 1 Arts in Education Conference is now posted on the Arts Council web site. For complete information, visit http://www.nh.gov/nharts/newsandcalendar/AIE/aieconf.htm.

Arts and Wellness
The Arts Council will be at the N.H. Department of Transportation’s Wellness Fair Tuesday, September 1. The event is open to State of New Hampshire employees who work in the Hazen Drive Complex. Arts Council staff will be on hand, along with three traditional artists who will demonstrate their crafts and give attendees an opportunity to try out watercolor painting, fly tying, and rug hooking. The idea is to show how nurturing creativity is an important part of overall good health. Hazen Drive workers are invited to visit the booth and check out the demonstrations.

Cleaning Out
The Arts Council staff has been cleaning out the office storage area. We have three hollow core doors that were used as display panels that we’d like to give to an organization or an artist. They are 40 inches wide by 6 feet tall, and would make good work tables or, with some painting, rehabbed display panels. If you’re interested, and are willing and able to pick up the doors and haul them away, please e-mail Jane Eklund at jane.eklund@dcr.nh.gov by Sept. 11.

Lunch Box Lectures
Yellow Taxi Production’s free lunch time lecture series returns for a new season of lectures and performances designed to educate the community about different aspects of theater. The lectures take place at a new location and on a new day. All Lunch Box lectures are 40 minutes long and starting at 12:10 p.m. They are held at the Nashua Public Library’s downstairs theater space one Tuesday a month, and are sponsored by New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.

September 22: Opera vs. Theatre led by Josiah George. Josiah is also an Equity stage manager who has worked at Boston Lyric Opera, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre and this season at Stoneham Theatre. During this Lunch Box lecture Josiah will go into the basics of what a stage manager actually does over the course of the rehearsal process and production run in both opera and theater.
